Caroline blinked in confusion. “Does your family… not treat you well?”
Adrian had tried to gain Caroline’s sympathy by selling his sob story, but he was briefly stunned
by her words.
“I… I’m the Sorkin’s illegitimate child. Why would they treat me well?”
He looked at Caroline strangely. “Don’t you know that?”
Caroline blinked, and it finally dawned on her. She had wondered why the Sorkins had introduced
Adrian to the daughter of the Hackett family.
After all, for them to make a smart match, they would definitely match him with the ladies from
the other big four families. But it turned out that Adrian was an illegitimate child.
Adrian couldn’t help but frown at Caroline’s surprised expression. “Everyone made a big fuss
when I was brought home. Didn’t you know?”

After arriving in Macovo, Adrian said he hadn’t bought a ticket for his next flight. He used this
excuse to follow Caroline and Gwen to the hotel they previously stayed in.

When the three arrived at the hotel, the manager immediately recognized them.

Caroline and Gwen looked at Adrian. “You’ve been here too?”
Embarrassed, Adrian said, “I was passing by.”
“Really? Why do I have the feeling you were here looking for someone?”
The manager wanted to keep talking, but Adrian interrupted him. “Can you help us check into our
room? We’re all a little hungry.”
The manager hadn’t gotten the answer he wanted, but the customers had the final say. So he had
no choice but to let the receptionist check them into their rooms.
After checking in, several staff members helped move the luggage to Caroline and Gwen’s room.
Since Sean wasn’t here this time, they stayed in an ordinary hotel room.
Adrian stayed in the room beside them. “Shall we go downstairs for some food after a while?”
Caroline hummed in assent and started to sort out her belongings. After five minutes, Adrian
knocked on the door. He asked through the door, “Are you done, Caroline?”
Caroline was about to open the door when Gwen grabbed her. “Hang on, Carol.”
“What’s wrong?”
“I have something to ask you.‘
“Go ahead.”
“Are you planning to divorce Kirk?”
Gwen’s question tugged at Caroline’s heartstrings, and her stomach dropped. At this moment, she
realized she had never thought about this until now.
