Kirk’s gaze remained soft. He gently caressed Caroline’s trembling body as if comforting a child.
He said patiently, “I’ll explain things to you, but please give me some time, okay?”
He would think of the perfect way to solve this so his actions wouldn’t leave a scar in Caroline’s heart like a nail.
Caroline slowly let go of Kirk’s collar. Tears kept rolling down her cheeks. She held her face in her hands and sobbed.
It was as if she wanted to let out all the heartache and grievances she had suffered during this time.
“How can you be so cruel, Kirk? Do you know how I’ve lived during this time?
“Why can’t you just tell me the truth? Either you tell me you don’t have a wife in another country, or you do.
“It doesn’t matter which answer you give! It’s much better than the vague answer you’re giving
now!”
Kirk’s heart ached as he watched Caroline’s shoulders shake with her sobs.
He had to use every bit of his willpower to restrain his emotions and not tell Caroline the truth.
He could definitely find the perfect way to solve this. He could perfectly explain why he was legally married without revealing his identity.
He dug his clenched fist into the mattress, and the bandaged wound opened up again, staining the gauze red. However, he didn’t seem to notice it. He stretched out his hand and hugged Caroline tightly.
Caroline’s tears stained his clothes, and their warmth burned his heart.
In the end, Caroline almost passed out from crying. She exhausted the last bit of her strength from crying so much. She laid weakly on the bed, looking at the ceiling and listening to the busy
sounds in the kitchen.
That used to be her favorite sound. Yet now, it upset her. She forced herself not to think about it.

“Actually, I didn’t investigate your marital status solely because of Dolly. A mysterious person sent me a message saying you have a wife abroad.” Caroline lowered her head and scooped up some risotto.
She didn’t say that the mysterious person was Kirk’s other wife. She still remembered the woman telling her that she couldn’t tell Kirk about this.
Otherwise, Kirk would harm her. Whether it was true or not, Caroline still chose to keep her identity a secret.
“Do you know who the mysterious person is?” Kirk asked.
Caroline shook her head. “I don’t.”
After a pause, she added, “Angelo said Dolly was acting. Sot she had probably wanted me to see
the fight between the two women and a man.”
Otherwise, it couldn’t be such a coincidence that she had met Dolly while going to the ski slopes
