Chapter 32  Chad said modestly, “Thank you But Hugh is better than I am.”  “Chad, you are so humble. Have you had breakfast?” Mira thought to herself, “Hugh is only good at making money. Other than that, he is nothing good.”  “No.”  Mira asked politely, “Would you like to have some with us? I think you will like it  “Okay.”  Chad smiled and was about to sit down. But Hugh suddenly grabbed his arm.  “No, you are not eating. Come with me. I have something to tell you.” Hugh dragged Chad out quickly.  “Mira, see you next time.”  Chad called Mira intimately as if they had known each other for a long time.  Mira waved her hand and thought, “Hugh is so rude. Luckily, Chad has a good temper and puts up with him.”  ***  Outside the room.  Hugh didn’t let go of Chad until he dragged Chad to the yard.  Chapter 32  40 Vouchers  “What’s wrong? I came to see you without having breakfast. I feel hurt now.” While speaking, Chad looked at Hugh carefully.  Zackary said Hugh didn’t even have a quilt last night. Chad thought Hugh would catch a cold.  Hugh said with a sneer, “You came to make fun of me. Don’t you think  know that?”  “I came to see what woman could defeat you… No, I mean the woman defeating Sylvia.” Seeing Hugh’s angry face, Chad swallowed a laugh and continued, “Out of my expectations, I have met her already. Mira is a pretty and adorable girl. You must have been mean to her.”  “What did you say?”  Hugh was furious. “You are just saying that because she is beautiful. Chad, I’d like to remind you that she is my wife.”  Chad stroked his chin. “But you will get a divorce sooner or later. Actually, I quite like Mira. When you get divorced, can I pursue her?”  Hugh suddenly wanted to kick his best friend away. “You are my friend. So, here is my advice. Stay away from her. Mira isn’t what she looks like. She is cranky and rude, no match for the noble girls in Svallion City.”  “I don’t think so. I found her easy–going. She just warmly invited me to breakfast.”  Chad grinned, “Maybe she is only rude to you and your family.”  Hugh didn’t know how to contradict that.  Hugh squinted his eyes in a bad mood.  He felt offended.  Chapter 37  40 Voucher  Chad said with a smile, “Don’t be angry. Mira just treats you the way you treat her. It’s fair. You kicked her out late at night once. So, I don’t think you are nice to her in daily life. You resist her, so she resists you.”  Hugh was lost in thought.  He recalled the first time he met Mira. Hugh was mean to her.  He thought Mira was a gold digger and that she married him for a hidden agenda.  Seeing Hugh’s expression, Chad knew he was right. He patted Hugh on the shoulder. “Mira treated me nicely just now and smiled at me. You saw that.”  While speaking, Chad suddenly felt bleak, though it was summer.  Subconsciously, he looked at Hugh. Hugh had no expression on his good–looking face, but there was a cold look in his eyes.  “From now on, stay away from Mira

Chapter 30  The night pa**ed.  The next day.  Hugh woke up from the cold.  He opened his eyes dizzily and felt very uncomfortable.  His head and stomach ached. His limbs were cold.  Then, Hugh found himself shrinking on a mattress. There was nothing on it. Under him was the plastic film.  Hugh wondered, “I remember that I was drinking with Chad and the others last night. Who put me here?”  Hugh instantly sat up and made sure it was his room. When he saw Mira, who was sleeping comfortably on the floor and covered by his quilt, Hugh was pissed off.  He thought, “Good. She is sleeping well.”  Hugh walked over anxiously, barefoot. He pulled back the quilt. “Mira, you…”  Hugh’s angry words stopped abruptly  Mira slept on the sky–blue sheet. Her cheeks were ruddy, and her white top had a few buttons unbuttoned, revealing her fair skin and cute collarbones.  Last night, when Mira got wet, Hugh could tell she wore underwear. But now, he was sure that Mira wasn’t wearing any.  40 Vouchers  Hugh looked down. Mira’s top rolled up, revealing her slender waist and cute belly button.  Somehow, Hugh felt his body became hot.  He thought, “Damn it! I must have drunk too much last night!”  Hugh pulled the quilt over Mira in annoyance.  What could he do to that enchanting girl? Nothing.  Being disturbed, Mira rubbed her eyes drowsily, yawned, and sat up. “Good morning.”  Hugh sneered, “I don’t feel good. Because you took my quilt.”  Mira was awake. She blinked her eyes. “But you wouldn’t give me a quilt last night. You left me no choice. I didn’t want to catch a cold.”  “Weren’t you worried that I would be sick?” Hugh looked angry.  Mira looked at Hugh as if he was a moron. “Do you expect me to put your feelings before mine?”  Hugh didn’t know how to respond.  He thought, “Yes. Is there a problem?  “I’m Hugh Leopold. Everybody puts my feelings first.”  Mira said, “It won’t happen unless I fall in love with you. Do you want me to love you?”  “Of course not.”  Hugh replied with a cold face. Then, he went to the bathroom to take a shower.  Chapter 30  45 Goucher  Then, Hugh suddenly realized that he put the bath towel into the washing machine after the shower last night.  So, now, Hugh had no bath towel or clean clothes.  After hesitating for a few seconds, Hugh said, “Mira.”  “What?”  Hugh answered, “Get me a new bath towel from the drawer in the locker room. And my pajamas, too.”  Mira walked to the door quickly and laughed, “Okay, only if you beg me.”  It was silent for a while.  Hugh squinted his eyes slightly.  “You need my help, so you’d better be grateful. I’m not your maid. What should you say?” Mira taught Hugh manners personally outside the bathroom.  Hugh’s anger, which had been held back for a morning, burst out.  “Fine. I don’t need your help. I’ll get them myself.”  Mira heard a snap.  The bathroom door suddenly opened. Hugh swaggered out.  Mira was dumbfounded. She suddenly opened her eyes wide. Mira had seen a lot of things, but she hadn’t seen this before.  …

Chapter 29  Mira didn’t want to do that. But there was a guest, so Mira had to listen to Taryn.  Zackary finally saw Mira. He didn’t expect her to be so young. Mira seemed to be about eighteen years old, wearing a cute white top and orange–checked pants. Her black hair fell on her shoulders. Mira’s skin was as fair as mild, her eyes were round, her eyelashes were as thick and long as feather brushes, and her little baby face was ruddy. Mira wasn’t wearing lipstick, but her lips looked pink.  Zackary was surprised.  He thought, “She is so adorable and pretty.  “And she looks so young.  “Hugh said she was arrogant.  “That can’t be true.  “Sylvia must have bullied her.  “It’s Hugh’s fault. He defends his sister–in–law because he doesn’t like his wife.  “But he should be nicer to his wife than to his sister–in–law.”  “Mira, this is Hugh’s friend, Zackary,” Brenden introduced.  “Hi.” Mira nodded at Zackary. “Zackary, can you help me? I can’t take Hugh upstairs by myself.”  “Okay. No problem.”  Zackary was happy to help Mira. Mira was a tiny little girl. Hugh was too strong for her.  Zackary helped Hugh into the master bedroom.  But when he came in, he was dumbfounded.  Zackary had come to Hugh’s bedroom before. But now, the big bed had no blanket or sheet on it.  Zackary looked around and found some bedding on the floor several meters away from the bed. He remembered they were Hugh’s sheet and quilt.  “Mira, do you and Hugh sleep on the floor?” Zackary asked stutteringly.  “No. I sleep on the floor. You can put him on the bed.” Mira waved her hand calmly  Zackary was shocked. “But there is nothing on the bed.”  “So what?” Mira looked cool. Anyway, Hugh never respected her, so Mira didn’t bother to pretend to be a good wife.  Zackary was in confusion.  He wondered, “Is she really Hugh’s wife?  “Now I can understand why Hugh said she was arrogant.  “But did Hugh lie when he said that she listened to him?”  Zackary was a little unhappy. “Aren’t you worried that Hugh may catch a cold? Since you married Hugh, you should be a good wife”  “Didn’t he tell you that we would get a divorce? So, why should I care  about him?” Mira yawned. She was sleepy. “Fine. I’ll give him a quilt Can you leave now? I want to go to bed.”  Zackary was speechless.  He left the Leopold’s house in shock.  Later. Chad sent a text in the group chat, asking Zackary, “Where is the picture?”  “I forgot.”  “You are so dead.”  “I really forgot. I was shocked by Hugh’s wife. Chad, you don’t understand. Hugh’s life is a tragedy  “What are you talking about?”  “When I left, Hugh slept on the bed with no bedding, not even a sheet.”  “What?”  “Hugh’s wife is so heartless and bold. I’ll never forget how poor Hugh looked when he shrank on the cold bed. I think I know why Hugh drank so much tonight. How pathetic”  “I feel sorry for him.”  Mira didn’t feel sorry for Hugh. Before she went to bed, she kindly found a coat in the closet and threw it onto Hugh.  Mira thought what she did was kind enough  As for taking off the shoes for Hugh and helping him wash up?  No way. 

Chapter 28  Zackary said sarcastically, “What? Yasmin was so cunning. Luckily, she wasn’t your girlfriend. Forget it. Maybe Paige isn’t a good woman, either.”  Oliver said sadly, “I think she is a kind woman. Do you know why I like her? There are several wild cats at the crossing ahead. I often see her feeding them.”  Chad patted Oliver on his shoulder. “Stop thinking about her. You came into her life too late. Come on. Let’s go drinking.”  When they arrived at the bar, Oliver started drinking quietly and unhappily.  Hugh wasn’t in a good mood, either. He drank with Oliver.  Zackary was confused. “Hugh, Oliver drinks because he failed in love. But you just got married. What makes you so upset? Is it because your wife is too ugly? Or, do you still miss Jacey?”  Hugh let out a grunt, saying, “She is pretty but too arrogant.” Then, he looked down and kept drinking.  Zackary was instantly curious. “Is that so? How dare she? What did she do?”  What did Mira do?  Hugh thought, “She ate durian pizzas in front of me, which I hate the most. It made me vomit. And tonight, she threw water on my pants.”  Hugh drank unhappily. “She isn’t arrogant to me. But she and my  0.00%  Chapter 22  sister–in–law fight every day. There is no peace at home.”  Zackary said, “That’s very bold of her. Hugh, does she listen to you?’  “Of course. She doesn’t dare to act wild in front of me.”  With a cold face, Hugh kept drinking in annoyance.  In the end, he and Oliver both got drunk.  Chad took a look at them and was going to say something. But Zackary  said first, “I’ll take Hugh home. You send Oliver.”  “Why? Do you want to meet Hugh’s wife?” Chad was right about Zackary’s thoughts.  ‘Aren’t you curious, Chad?” Zackary giggled.  Chad was curious. He went to the Leopold’s house on purpose yesterday but didn’t see Mira.  “Chad, believe me. When I see Hugh’s wife, I’ll take a picture of her.” Zackary kept chattering, and Chad finally agreed.  ***  The Leopold’s house.  It was ten o’clock in the evening.  Mira took a look at the time, thinking, “Hugh isn’t back yet. He probably won’t come back today. These rich people must have a lot of places to live.”  Mira put down the book, went downstairs, and had a gla** of water. Then, she was going to go upstairs to sleep.  Suddenly, Mira heard the sound of a car from outside.  97  Chapter 28  It might be Hugh or Brady and his wife. Anyway, Mira didn’t care. She wanted to go upstairs quickly. Then, Mira heard a strange man’s voice from outside.  “Mr. Leopold, Hugh got drunk, so I sent him back.”  Then, the door was pushed open. A young and handsome man in a dark green velvet shirt came in, helping Hugh up.  “Why is Hugh so drunk?” Taryn was worried and hurriedly came downstairs.  Zackary certainly knew the reason, but he couldn’t say it honestly. “We haven’t met for a long while, so Hugh drank a little too much today.”  “Thank you,” Branden said, holding a walking stick.  Brenden and Taryn wanted to help support Hugh. But they were old. Then, Taryn saw Mira in the dining room. She was annoyed. “What are you doing there? Come over quickly and help Hugh go upstairs.”

Chapter 26  After mopping the floor, Mira directly moved the mattress and blanket to the floor.  She didn’t want to sleep on that bed, anyway.  ***  In a Bugatti limited edition sports car  Hugh called Chad in annoyance. “Where are you? I want to have a drink.”  Chad joked, “What did you just say? What made you, such a restrained man, want to have a drink? Who pissed you off?”  “Shut up.” Hugh was in a bad mood.  “Fine. Zackary, Oliver, and I are in Paige’s Café. I’ll send you the address. Come over here.”  Hugh frowned slightly. “A coffee shop? I thought you were in a bar. So, what brought you there?”  Chad grunted, “Oliver fell in love with the coffee shop’s owner. The. woman shows up every Wednesday. So, we are waiting here with Oliver.”  “Fine, I’ll come over.”  Hugh hung up the phone and drove over with the help of navigation.  About half an hour later, he arrived at Paige’s Café.  THE  15441  40 Vouchers  The coffee shop wasn’t far from downtown. There were flowers outside, and it was decorated in an exotic style. Standing out there, Hugh could smell a thick coffee aroma.  Hugh pulled the heavy door open and came in. The melodious and soothing piano music made people feel peaceful.  “Hugh, over here.”  Not far away, Zackary waved his hand at Hugh.  Hugh strode over.  It was hard to believe that three of the richest young men in Svallion City sat there drinking coffee, with all kinds of desserts on the table.  Zackary said curiously, “Hugh, what aren’t you home tonight? I heard from my mother that the police went to your house this afternoon. Did anything happen to your family and make you upset?”  Zackary got no response.  Hugh, who was going to pull a chair and sat down, looked very unhappy.  He almost forgot that the Leopold’s house was in a rich neighborhood. Their neighbors were rich and powerful. Hugh’s friends‘ families also lived there.  Oliver nodded, “Hugh, I also heard from my family that the police came to your house. What happened?”  Chad was curious, too.  “This is my family matter.” Hugh sat down and glared at his three friends, warning them to shut up.  Hugh, we are just warned about you”  Zackary looked disappointed. But he knew Hugh’s temper wasn’t good. Thus, Zackary didn’t keep asking  “Forget it. People all have secrets” With a gentle smile, Chad lifted his chin and looked over at the piano. “Look. Do you see the woman who is playing the piano there? She is the boss and the woman Oliver likes”  Hugh looked over casually.  Under dazzling light, the woman playing the piano wore a floral dress. Her black and shiny long hair fell on her shoulders and behind her back. The woman was elegant and beautiful.  She looked more attractive, especially when her slender and fair fingers danced on the white and black keys.  However…  “She is just fine,” Hugh commented lazily. Then, he frowned. “Since she is the owner of this coffee shop, why is she playing the piano? What does she want?”  Hugh had seen a lot of beautiful women in his life. No matter what their jobs were, those women were desperate to attract Hugh’s attention and marry him for money. 

Chapter 25  After spending some time with Mira, Hugh knew her much better now more or less./  He figured that his attitude toward her just then wasn’t exactly great. It was unlike Mira to let it pa** just like that.  Hugh had a bad feeling when he saw Mira walking toward the bed- with a basin of water. He hurried over with his long legs, grabbed her by the arm, and asked, with a cold face, “What are you doing, Mira?”  “Pouring water onto your bed, of course. Now that I can’t sleep, you don’t get to sleep either:”  Mira raised her head, and the bright eyes on her baby–fat face were very calm.  Hugh was taken aback and then warned sternly, “Don’t you dare!”  “Why should I be afraid?”  Mira looked at him coldly. “I’ve put up with you long enough, Hugh. You wanted a divorce and asked me to cooperate, and I did. What about you? Yesterday, you told me to get out, and today, you called me a thief in front of the police!  “You’re a neat freak, and you wouldn’t let me take a shower in the bathroom, so I used the communal bathroom. You wouldn’t let me sleep on the bed, and I said nothing. I just asked you to go get me a cushion and a blanket. You know exactly your attitude when facing  Hugh was a lot higher than her, and when he looked down, he could  Chapter 25  40 Vouchers  see her soft, rosy lips parting and closing clearly.  Her eloquence gave him a headache. “It’s just a blanket. Can’t you fetch it yourself?”  “I’m practically a stranger here. How should I know where it is?” Mira said angrily. “Hugh, I know my family is inferior to yours, and you despise me. But again, what we share is a partnership. You’re a businessman. Is that how you treat your business partners? Since you don’t respect me, I might as well return the favor.”  She said while walking to the bed.  “Don’t go over there!” Hugh grabbed her other arm.  Mira tried to break free, and they pushed each other. Hugh was a man, so he was stronger than her anyway. The water in the basin spilled out and was all over Mira’s breasts.  The room fell silent at once.  Hugh looked down and saw that as Mira had just gotten out of the shower, she was wearing nothing but a cotton light pink pajamas.  Now most of her upper body was wet, especially her breasts. He could even see the color of her underwear.  Hugh’s eyes darkened.  She was so skinny.  And how sexy she actually was surprised him.  “What are you looking at?” Noticing that Hugh was staring at her breasts, Mira blushed out of fury and shyness.  She didn’t know what she was thinking. Anyway, she got impulsive.  26.40%  Psstour hous  She grabbed the basin and poured the water on Hugh’s lower part.  Water spilled all over the wooden floor.  Hugh felt cold.  He looked at his wet lower part, and his handsome face was utterly gloomy. “Mira!”  He gritted his teeth, his eyes so vicious, as if he was about to kill her.  “What are you looking at? Courtesy demands reciprocity.”  Mira subconsciously emboldened herself. She stiffened her back, and her breasts shivered under her wet pajamas.  Hugh was so pissed off. He had the urge to strangle her, but he found  it hard to look at the woman who was with wet clothes.  He clenched his fists and walked angrily to the door.  He couldn’t stay here for another second.  As he approached the door, he thought about his wet pants. He went into the locker room and changed them, and then he slammed the door and left.  After he left, Mira was relieved.  She figured that since he was so furious, he probably wouldn’t come back. 

Chapter 24  As Taryn finished speaking, she saw Mira walk down followed by Hugh.  Brenden was speechless  He thought, “Fine. We shouldn’t judge Mira’s behavior with normal minds.”  “Where are Brady and Sylvia?” Hugh asked after sitting down.  Taryn glanced at Mira, who was wiping her hands with a warm towel, and said sarcastically, “Sylvia has gone back to her folk’s place. Brady called back to tell us about it.”  Hugh glanced at Mira. “You are something. Sylvia has lived with us for decades, and this is the first time she has ever gone home with anger.”  “You mean she has gone home with embarra**ment, right?” Mira looked up at Hugh blankly with her bright eyes. “I’m the one who is with anger. I didn’t go back, only because you took my luggage away.”  Hugh was speechless.  Taryn wanted to flare up again. “Mira, you…”  “Enough. Let’s eat,” Brenden ordered sternly.  He figured that if their conversation continued, let alone Taryn, he would have a heart attack.  ***  Chaiter 24  40 Vouchers  Mira was full.  She went upstairs to take a shower. She took her clothes out of the suitcase and carried them to the bathroom.  Hugh, who followed her inside, frowned. “I don’t like my bathroom being used by others. It’ll be dirty.”  Mira said nothing.  She thought, “You might as well say directly that you think I’m dirty.”  Her cheeks were bulging as she glared at the man behind her.  “I’m a clean freak,” Hugh added.  “OK.”  Mira nodded. She thought, “What a coincidence. I’m a clean freak as well. I don’t want to use his bathroom at all.  “Anyway, given his personality, even if we divorce in the future, I don’t think any woman will be able to stand him.”  Mira, unwilling to argue with him, took her clothes and went to the communal bathroom on the second floor to take a shower.  When she was back, Hugh had already taken a shower.  He was sitting at his desk in a navy blue pajamas. His skin was fair, and the neckline of his pajamas was casually loosened, revealing his delicate collarbone and sexy Adam’s apple.  Even though Mira hated him, she had to admit that he was the most dignified man she had ever met.  Mira walked over and silently put away her laptop and textbooks,  267  Chapter 24  40 Vouchers  which had been pushed aside.  Hugh glanced sideways at her. “Where’s the couch in my room?”  “Your dad had it move out. He didn’t want me to sleep on it at night,” she said.  Hugh was stunned by how thorough Brenden was.  Then he looked at the only large bed in the bedroom, and his handsome face darkened.  “In that case, sleep on the floor. I will take the bed.”  Mira did not argue with him, as she did not want to sleep in some man’s bed. “Then give me a cushion and a blanket. I can’t lie on the floor just like that.”  Hugh said indifferently, “That’s your business.”  His indifferent tone stung her again.  She thought, “I’m new here. How am I supposed to know where the cushions and the blankets are?  “I’m beat today, and I don’t want to fight with him.  “Yet my compromise is rewarded by nothing but his indifference instead of his compromise and cooperation.”  Mira glanced at him meaningfully and turned back to the bathroom.  Hugh looked at her back. Somehow, he had a bad feeling.
